The workshop for 15th October is cancelled as not enough of us could make it and also because I've been unwell for the past few weeks, which turns out to be tonsillitis. I'm on antibiotics now so should be functioning better in a few days. I'll be able to get back to the interval training and sight-singing work that I'd started before the onset of the sore throat.
One of the benefits of being silenced for a while is that I've been able to review how the project can evolve.
On 22nd October I will lead a workshop where we prepare and play as we have with Adele and Pip and then I have some new warm up exercises and devising strategies for the vocal elements of the performance.
Body Out
May aim will be to allow voices to flow out from inner impulses, to individually observe our own process, to let go of judgments like 'nice', beautiful', 'horrible' and just to hear sounds and qualities and find what needs to happen in the body to change the outcome or how to replicate the pleasing effect we just made. We will see how easy it is to be self aware and yet not self conscious, to hear and see action within ensemble and in joining or contrasting, remain true to authentic self! I'm looking forward to it.
What Follows?
If themes or motifs arise from the workshop on the 22nd perhaps the group would like to meet and develop these together for a performance. Perhaps we'd like to meet again to discover more and do more singing. Or perhaps it will be time for me to develop some solo performance incorporating the three elements. I'll respond and work with whatever opportunities present.
In the meantime, drifting in mind mist and doziness is likely for a few days yet.
