Theatre Improvisation Workshops – A Taster

Hi.  Here’s a very brief extract of notes I made of the theatre improv work that formed part of my theatre practices minor at UCF inc. Dartington College of Arts and which we will experience in our POWOW workshops with Adele:-

warming up bodies, minds, senses and emotions

authentic movement - follows impulses from the body as to how and when to move.

Three types of breath

awareness of breathing or the link to breath and emotional or physical states

                                                surfaces, textures, spaces, sounds

ensemble, duet, trio, quarter or solo performances.
freeing, refreshing, liberating

Feedback from an observer

Eye Contact

Entering and Exiting

accepting or blocking an offer, of power relationships, narrative, rejection

a heightened sense of awareness of others through all the senses, especially peripheral vision and hearing

As with the vocal production workshops, we need to wear comfortable clothing and work within our physical and energetic capacities.  I was surprised that I could do things in the moment that my mind said I couldn’t do, so be open to find out more about yourself too I guess.  As usual, if you’ve any questions, mail me at itsPOWO@gmail.com.
